Asacol 400mg Tablet contains an active ingredient named mesalazine, which is an anti-inflammatory drug. It is used to treat ulcerative colitis and Crohn's ileocolitis. It lowers the symptoms of rectal bleeding, diarrhea, abdominal pain, stomach ulcers. It acts on the terminal part of ileum and colon for controlling the disease.
How to Use?
The patient is advised to take this drug as per the doctor's prescribed time and dose. You cannot chew or crush it. Instead, you have to swallow it whole. Asacol 400mg Tablet can be taken with or without food but should be taken on a fixed time. If someone has been taking this medication for an extended period, the physician may perform routine tests to check the levels of magnesium that may fall due to this medicine. You may also need to divide the tablet for the correct dose.
Some side effects of Asacol 400mg Tablet are skin rash with boils, problem in kidney functioning, bruising occurs quickly, nausea, headache, fever, sore throat, spots under the skin, blood abnormalities, hair loss, numbness in hands, problem with heart/lungs/liver, constipation, blurred vision, irregular heartbeat.
